Temporary Profession
TEMPORARY PROFESSION
This period starts immediately after the novitiate. Formation continues during this time of temporary vows as the sister strengthens her life of union with God and her sense of belonging to the institute. During the temporary commitment period, a community environment and experiences are provided and designed to help the junior religious to discern a true call from God. In order to grow she must be enabled to be creatively faithful, that is to take responsibility for her, to deepen the experience of freedom of one’s commitment to this vocation and to all its consequences.
This is the time that they get real experience of living what they learnt information in real life by being in the communities and doing the ministry. Besides all these annually, for six to nine years, the temporary professed sister renews her vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience. During these years the sister can be involved in a period of studies and/or apostolic activities in the congregation. After a set period of years, and a time of discernment, a sister professes perpetual vows.
