Sathirthya Special School
DESCRIPTION
The Sathirthya Special School is an Institution run by the Sisters of the Divine Saviour (Salvatorian Sisters), established on October 24, 1994 based on the vision of Fr. Francis Jordan and Blessed Mary of the Apostles. It is a residential and day center of Special education, training and care for children and young people who are differently abled.
The Society is registered under Travancore – Cochin Literary, it’s a center to educate and care for the children and young people who are differently abled. Currently the strength of the school is 68, age 3 and above are admitted; It involves care group, Pre- primary, Primary, Secondary, Pre vocational and Vocational. The promotion of the students is based on the achievement of the target established by the institution. The vision of the center is to improve skills to make them self- sufficient by vocational learners to make carry bags, medical covers and candles etc.
The institution also offers residence for the students, particularly for girls of any age. In the case of boys, only those under the age group of 14 are accommodated.

The Sathirthya Special School is a Catholic Institution which provides unique opportunities to differently abled to develop their personality, skills and become self sufficient, we are guided by the motto: “May All Know The Eternal Truth”
MISSION STATEMENT
Training is given in academics, computes, music, dance, painting, instrumental music, and other creative arts.
Yoga, sports, games is taught to facilitate their physical and mental fitness.
Students are brought to situations to come in contact with other schools and organizations.
Annual outing is provided for a different experience of the world. For the overall development of handicapped vocational training like handicrafts, tailoring, candle, greeting card, paper carry bag making etc. are taught.
Training in home management, cleaning, gardening, hygiene etc are offered.
Facilities for speech therapy and physiotherapy are given.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SOCIETY
The objective of the society is to provide an opportunity to girls and boys who are mentally and physically retarded and handicapped to develop their personality through educational, cultural and recreational programmes in such a way that through the years of formation given here they can exercise their abilities and talents in a far better manner.

Sathirthya means Friendship;
Real Friendship can be explained in the words of Albert Camus as:

Be a friend to me.
